On the afternoon of November 8, Linh Trung Ward Police (Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City) said they were detaining Nguyen Quoc Thanh (29 years old, residing in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City) to investigate the act of robbery.

Accordingly, at 12:10 p.m. on November 8, the patrol team of the Rach Chiec Traffic Police Team (Road and Railway Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police) was on duty on Hanoi Highway (in Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City) when they discovered a young man driving a motorbike snatching the handbags of two women riding motorbikes in the same direction on the highway.

Immediately, a patrol team of four traffic police officers in two special vehicles chased the robber.

Seeing the traffic police honking their horns in pursuit, the robber became even more reckless and accelerated to run away, making it very difficult for the traffic police to follow while ensuring the safety of other road users.

In just 15 minutes, the patrol team drove a special vehicle to approach and arrest the robber on a road section in Linh Trung Ward, Thu Duc District. Afterwards, the soldiers handed over the suspect, vehicle and evidence to the ward police for further investigation.

At the investigation agency, the robber gave his name as Nguyen Quoc Thanh (29 years old, residing in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City). Through questioning him, the police determined that Thanh had a previous conviction for theft and had just been released from prison in June 2016.
