An elderly woman in Nghe An province died after being bitten by a rabid dog.
(Baonghean.vn) - An elderly woman residing in Xang Coc village, Chau Binh commune (Quy Chau district - Nghe An province) died after suffering a seizure following a rabies attack from a dog bite.
The victim was Mrs. Lang Thi Nghiep (80 years old), who passed away at 5 PM on November 4, 2019. Prior to that, she showed symptoms of rabies and was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment, but she did not survive.
Mr. Lang Van Chinh, Chairman of the Chau Binh Commune People's Committee, said: Nearly two weeks ago, Ms. Nghiep went to visit her neighbor and was bitten on the leg by the neighbor's dog.
The homeowner, enraged, beat the dog to death and ate its meat. Meanwhile, Mrs. Nghiep, due to her negligence, did not get vaccinated against rabies.
Currently, the victim's family is making arrangements for burial according to the traditions of the local Thai people.
"It's a heartbreaking incident. If the family had taken the elderly woman to get a rabies vaccination in time, such a tragic event wouldn't have happened," Mr. Lang Van Chinh shared sadly.
