In the area surrounding Cua Nam fish pond, many households utilize vacant plots of land to grow various kinds of green vegetables. Due to the proximity to the pond and the high moisture content of the soil, the vegetables here thrive.

The use of styrofoam containers for growing vegetables is very common in Vinh City. These containers are placed on balconies, in front of houses, etc. Mrs. Luong Kim Hanh's family in Cua Nam ward grows about 30 different types of green vegetables in styrofoam containers.
This vegetable garden has been cultivated by the family of Ms. Ong Thi Bich Mui, residing in the Nguyen Sy Sach apartment building (Hung Dung district), for nearly 10 years. Initially, the family only grew a few types of herbs in 5-7 styrofoam boxes. Now, the number of boxes has increased to over 20. Because the styrofoam boxes easily deteriorate after a period of use, Ms. Mui decided to switch to plastic boxes and even invested in a metal frame to hold the plant boxes, maximizing space utilization.
