The 62-year-old woman still volunteers to burn trash to protect the environment.
(Baonghean.vn) - Every day, people still see an old man hunched over burning large piles of garbage along the road from the center of Nghi Cong Bac commune (Nghi Loc, Nghe An) to the Tam Toa temple relic site.
That's Mr. Nguyen Viet Thao (62 years old) residing in Hamlet 6, Nghi Cong Nam Commune.
Although his house is nearly 2km from the landfill, the fields where his family cultivates are located near the landfill, so every day he regularly sees people littering there. People even ignore the "no littering" signs posted by the authorities and brazenly throw trash right at the foot of the signs.

Faced with the ever-growing landfill and the lack of action from authorities, Mr. Thao volunteered to regularly burn trash there in the hope of reducing pollution. Constant exposure to the pungent stench emanating from the landfill, as well as smoke from burning animal carcasses, plastic, and other waste, has significantly impacted his health, but he remains undeterred.

Despite the hardship, Mr. Thao perseveres, hoping to contribute his efforts to the environment. Mr. Thao said that he has been doing this work for two years now, and although he burns the waste continuously, he can't do it alone, so the landfill remains polluted.
What he most desires is for the relevant authorities at all levels to quickly implement thorough solutions to restore a clean environment to this area.
