70-year-old man forced to drink pesticide by his young lover.
(Baonghean.vn) - A 70-year-old man in Nghe An was tricked by a young woman nearly 30 years his junior into drinking beer mixed with pesticide and died from poisoning.
On the morning of August 15th, Colonel Pham Hoai Nam, Head of the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Police, stated that the unit is currently holding Nguyen Thi Thanh (born in 1974, residing in Thanh Chi commune, Thanh Chuong district) in custody for investigation purposes.

The suspect, Nguyen Thi Thanh, is accused of using pesticides to cause the death of Mr. NVP (born in 1947, residing in Thanh Chuong district).
Previously, on August 9th, the Thanh Chuong District Police received information from Mr. P.'s family regarding his pesticide poisoning, suspected to be the result of foul play.
Verification from relatives revealed that Mr. P. is separated from his wife and currently lives alone. Recently, Mr. P. had a romantic relationship with Nguyen Thi Thanh. Shortly afterward, Thanh was summoned to the police station to clarify some suspicions.
During questioning by the police, Nguyen Thi Thanh confessed that she and Mr. P. had been in a romantic relationship for the past three years (Thanh had also separated from her husband).
Recently, Mr. P. has been spreading rumors to many people about their relationship, boasting that Thanh will bear his child. Because of Mr. P.'s actions, Thanh feels ashamed and angry.
On the afternoon of August 8th, Thanh bought a bottle of insecticide with the initial intention of using it to kill termites. Upon arriving in Dung town (Thanh Chuong district), Thanh invited Mr. P. to have a beer. Taking advantage of Mr. P.'s inattention, Thanh put the insecticide into his beer glass and forced him to drink it all.
At midnight on August 8th, Mr. P. began experiencing abdominal pain and vomiting. By the morning of August 9th, his relatives were aware of the situation and took him to the hospital for emergency treatment, but due to the severity of the poisoning, Mr. P. passed away on August 14th.
The Thanh Chuong District Police, in coordination with the Forensic Technical Department of the Provincial Police, conducted a post-mortem examination and subsequently handed over the case file to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation according to their jurisdiction.
