On March 30, doctors at Dalian Hospital in Liaoning Province performed surgery to remove a foreign object from a patient's genitals. Urologist Gao Zhanfeng said that after reviewing ultrasound images, he found a 0.5 cm wide cable had formed a knot inside the patient's bladder.
"The knot became even tighter as he tried to pull it out. This is what caused the bladder to bleed," Gao said. "Threading the string in wasn't too difficult, but because the string was twisted and knotted, it was impossible to pull it out on his own without assistance."
Doctor Gao used a laser to cut the cable before removing it from the patient's body piece by piece. When a reporter asked, "Did you disinfect the wire before threading it through?", the old man replied, "I just rinsed it thoroughly under the tap."
According to Dr. Gao, it was fortunate that the patient did not use any harder or metal material to insert into the urethra, otherwise the bladder could have been punctured. After this incident, the elderly man said he would take it as a lesson and never do anything similar again.
