AFF Cup 2024 Group B situation after the first round of matches
After the opening match of Group B of the AFF Cup 2024, the Vietnamese national team temporarily led the group with a 4-1 victory over Laos, while Indonesia struggled to overcome Myanmar 1-0.

Vietnam's 4-1 victory over Laos helped coach Kim Sang Sik's team earn 3 points, temporarily taking the lead in Group B. Despite facing difficulties in the first half, Vietnam played explosively in the second half, scoring 4 goals in a row, with goals from Hai Long, Tien Linh, Van Toan and Van Vi. Laos' only goal came from a penalty kick in the 90+5 minute of extra time.
In the same match, Indonesia had a narrow 1-0 victory over Myanmar thanks to a goal by captain Asnawi. However, Indonesia did not show impressive performance and needs to improve in the next matches.
Currently, Group B is clearly divided. Vietnam and Indonesia are the two leading teams, while Myanmar and Laos have yet to score any points. The next match between Vietnam and Indonesia on December 15 will be the decisive match for the top position in the group, as both teams aim to qualify for the semi-finals.
