Russia-China Summit: Signing many important documents

On the afternoon of March 21, Moscow time, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The summit was successful, with the two sides signing many important documents, creating a foundation for Russia-China relations to develop strongly in the coming time.

At the summit, the two sides had a very substantive and frank exchange of views on the prospects for further development of Russia-China relations and strengthening coordination of views and positions on the international arena. The two sides affirmed their support for each other's "core interests", regularly conducting joint patrols at sea and in the air and joint exercises, and enhancing mutual trust between the armed forces of the two countries.

The two countries believe that it is necessary to continue to maintain close coordination within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), BRICS and other multilateral mechanisms. The two Russian and Chinese leaders agreed on international and regional issues such as the Iranian nuclear issue, the Korean Peninsula, Syria, Libya, etc.

On the issue of Ukraine, both sides believe that a responsible dialogue is the best way to sustainably resolve the conflict and that the international community should support the constructive efforts being made in this regard.

Within the framework of the summit, the two sides signed a Joint Statement on deepening the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and China into a new era and a Joint Statement on the plan to develop important areas of economic cooperation between Russia and China until 2030. In addition, the two sides also signed many cooperation documents in the fields of nuclear energy, oil and gas, etc.

At a press conference after the summit, President Putin affirmed that the two joint statements just signed fully reflect the special nature of Russia-China relations, which are at their highest level of development in history, and are an example of comprehensive partnership and genuine strategic interaction.

At the summit, President Putin expressed his belief that bilateral relations will increasingly achieve new developments.

“I believe that our multifaceted, mutually beneficial cooperation will continue to grow stronger and develop more dynamically for the benefit of the people of our two countries,” President Putin emphasized.

For his part, President Xi Jinping also highly appreciated the bilateral relationship and hoped that the bilateral relationship would develop more and more strongly in all fields.

According to President Xi Jinping: “With joint efforts, China-Russia relations have shown a healthy and sustainable development momentum. Political mutual trust between our two countries has deepened, common interests have multiplied, people of the two countries have drawn closer together, and cooperation has developed in the fields of trade, economy, investment, energy, culture, humanitarianism and inter-regional cooperation.”

Russian analysts believe that this Russia-China summit will have a positive, long-term impact on the development of bilateral relations.
