Isolated life awaits Donald Trump in the White House
(Baonghean.vn) - Nearly a week since becoming the newly elected president, Donald Trump has hidden himself in his gilded New York skyscraper. Every day, visitors will come here, go through metal detectors and go to Mr. Trump's office and residence.
This is seen as practice to prepare for the isolated security zone that awaits him at the White House.
Unlike President Obama, who flew commercial and lived in a shabby Washington apartment for about a year in office, Mr. Trump has spent decades living a monastic life. While Mr. Obama often complained about not being able to walk and enjoy a meal at a sidewalk cafe, Mr. Trump seems to have no interest in such things.
Mr. Trump has spent much of his time in Trump Tower, calling foreign leaders and weighing nominees for Cabinet positions.

As a young man, Trump rarely sat still, but even before he began his campaign, those close to him assumed he would become a homebody.
Indeed, he spends most of his time at properties he owns, including Trump Tower in New York, his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, or Mar-a-Lago, his private club in South Florida. If he does go elsewhere, it is somewhere near his properties.
As president, Mr Trump will be surrounded by a Secret Service team, replacing his previous private security detail. He will fly on Air Force One and allow his private jet to rest. He will be restricted from driving any vehicle except a golf cart, although he will rarely drive himself.
Life in isolation at the White House often requires first families to adjust their routines because it can feel claustrophobic at first.
But Melania Trump seems more optimistic because she had time to get used to the security zone when her husband was running for office.
Trump’s aide Rudy Giuliani said the businessman had planned to move to the White House. However, he still wanted to live at Mar-a-Lago, which was owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post. After her death in 1973, the property was donated to the US government as a presidential retreat and was known as the “Winter White House.” Due to high maintenance costs, the property was eventually sold to Trump.
Staffers often describe Mr. Trump as a man of habit, spending much of his time at the golf course, eating, mingling with guests, working and observing the work of his staff.
Once known as a New York playboy whose calendar was packed with events, Trump's staff have rarely seen him out in public recently.
