The life of the actor who played a police officer for 17 years.

The challenge of playing only a police officer for 17 years.
- Having played police officers for the past 17 years, why did you continue to take on this role in the film "The Lone Path" instead of another role?
Actually, I have many opportunities to take on different types of roles, as I said, there's always a higher peak to climb. That's why actors often choose different roles to challenge themselves. However, Bảo Anh is an amateur actor, so instead of choosing roles with diverse characteristics, from the very beginning of my career, I've always been steadfast in my choice.
First of all, the role of a police officer was a stroke of luck; it was Bảo Anh's first acting role. Secondly, once I had defined the role, liked it, and was passionate about it, I wanted to succeed in this type of role. Previously, when I had only been acting for 2-3 years and had played about 6-7 police officer roles, my mentor, People's Artist Hoàng Dũng, said: "You should change things up, try your hand at a different type of role."
And for the first time, I argued with my teacher: "No, teacher! I will try my best to succeed in this role. When I succeed and repay you, I will look for other types of roles." Exactly 10 years later, Bao Anh succeeded in playing a police officer, that was Bao Ngau in...The Judge- a role I got to play alongside my teacher. In the end, I was able to repay him and prove that I had a place in the industry.
Later, I also wondered whether I should change or not. But thinking back, I found the role of a police officer so beautiful and multifaceted, each role having a different fate, even though they maintained the same style—cold and detached from romantic relationships, solely focused on solving cases. I found the character of a police officer very valuable and was drawn to it, and I didn't want to change.
For me, the more I play the role of a police officer, the more I discover great qualities that I previously lacked. Now, when playing a police officer in a film...A single path,I feel it's not enough and I need to do better. Even though I've played police officers for 17 years, I still want to continue playing this type of role for a few more years so that the audience can truly recognize my talent.
- Many people say you play it too safe, that's why you keep choosing roles that are already too familiar?
I find it easy to be a bad guy, but hard to be a good guy. This safe choice is actually the most dangerous one. Viewers will compare it to my previous police roles. When I asked the audience if they still wanted me to play a police officer, most said, "I still like it." So why should I give up this role? It's no longer safe; it's a huge challenge that requires you to overcome it.
My ambition is to become the person who plays the most police officers in Vietnam.

- So, what makes Bao Anh different and attractive in her next police officer role in a crime drama?
Phùng is a special role, the most heartbreaking role I've played in my 17 years as a police officer, but I can't reveal what it is yet. This is a role that truly weighed heavily on Bảo Anh's mind. When I accepted the role, I was very hesitant, even though I've always liked playing police officers. It's completely different from other police roles that you'll notice when you watch the film.
- After 17 years of playing police officers, if you had to count right now, how many films have you played a police officer in? Perhaps Bao Anh is the actor who has played the most police officers on Northern Vietnamese television...
I only remember vaguely.(laugh)Actually, I aspire to become the actor who has played the most police officers in Vietnam. Of course, that's very difficult because there are many senior actors and actresses who have played police officers for many years. I hope VFC produces more crime dramas so I can continue playing police officers, even small roles, to add to my list of roles.
- Audiences are already very familiar with his neat and serious image in his police roles on screen, except for "Happy Garage". I wonder if he brings his real-life personality into the film, because the images of his life that he shares on social media are very different from his acting roles?
In my personal life, I'm a cheerful person who laughs a lot. But in my work, of course, I have to be a different person. My job requires seriousness, and although I may appear cold on the outside, I'm actually a very emotional person. Emotional men often have their own quiet moments, which suits the role of a police officer well. As I mature, I become more experienced, and I want to use that maturity to bring to my roles. That's what brings about the changes in my police roles later on.
My wife has sacrificed a lot.

- Does getting older and becoming a father for the third time have a strong impact on your emotions when acting in films?
It's a lot! Having one child is different, two is very different, and three is completely different. Before having children, I could dedicate all my time to researching scripts. But once I'm a father and have three, there's not much time left. In the morning, I take the two older children to school, then come home and help my wife take care of the youngest because she's only a few months old.
Therefore, I only had a few hours to review the script before filming, so I had to concentrate intensely. Luckily, I also had experience with this type of role, so I was confident that I could spend less time on it. When I became a father of three, all the emotions I brought to the film were sweeter; I truly became a family man, a more responsible man.
- With you constantly working on films like this, you have to leave all the family and childcare responsibilities to your wife. How does she manage?
My wife is an amazing person, very kind, hardworking, and self-sacrificing. She dedicated her youth, sacrificed her career, and even her personal life for her husband and children. Now she stays at home completely to take care of the three kids. My wife was born in 1992, 11 years younger than me. Luckily, she's very hardworking, so I feel confident entrusting all the family matters to her.
- If you weren't acting, what would your daily routine be like at home?
I have to drop one child off at school at 7:15, another at 8:15, then feed the youngest and go grocery shopping. When preparing for a film, I have to plan everything very carefully in my head, preparing everything a few days before filming. I usually take on film projects in the summer because I don't have to take the children to and from school. They get a full summer vacation, and I have less to worry about. Once the school year starts, I usually don't accept film projects.
Even for film projects with great roles, I still have to ask my wife's opinion. She always supports me, and sometimes gets worried when she sees me staying home for too long without working on films. But seeing how hard my wife and children work, even if I work less and make sure the family eats healthily, as long as I can have peace of mind knowing everything is taken care of at home. It's better that way than constantly rushing out to earn money while a child's childhood is so short. Watching our children grow up little by little is our happiness. That's why whatever sacrifices my wife and I make are worthwhile!

- Looking at his social media, everyone can see that Bao Anh seems to dote on his wife and is very affectionate, quite different from the characters he plays in films?
Of course I have to please her! I only have one wife for my whole life, so if I don't please her, who will I please?
