The film "Saigon Commando" consists of 4 episodes: The Meeting Point, Silence, The Storm, and Giving Her Back Her Name. The film was released in 1986.

Director Long Vân has recreated the key events of the Saigon commando forces during the war for the liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country.

The film brought many actors such as Quang Thái, Thúy An, Thương Tín, Hà Xuyên, Hai Nhất, Thanh Loan… closer to the public.

Huynh Dung (stage name Aly Dung)

Artist Huynh Dung (stage name Aly Dung) was born in 1950. Aly Dung played the role of a soldier in "Saigon Commando". The actor is of mixed Vietnamese and Saudi Arabian ancestry.

He participated in many famous theater troupes such as Cuu Long Giang, Kim Cuong, and Bach Lan, and played various roles, but mostly supporting ones.

He shared that he lives alone in a small 9m2 house in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, but because he is currently suffering from leukemia, he is waiting for his students to arrange new accommodation for him.

Despite feeling down about his current situation, he tries to think optimistically so that his condition will improve. Due to financial difficulties, artist Aly Dung cannot afford the blood transfusions prescribed by his doctor.

"Honestly, I just wish I were healthier so I could go back to acting, even if it's just a small role, an extra, I wouldn't mind," shared artist Aly Dung.

He hopes his health will improve so he can sell lottery tickets to make ends meet when he doesn't have acting roles.

Thuong Tin

In the film, Thuong Tin (born in 1956) played Sau Tam, a Saigon commando soldier. His success with this role made him one of the most sought-after names on screen. He set a record as the male actor who starred in the most feature films in a single year, with 12 leading roles.

From a beloved actor, Thuong Tin was abandoned by the public due to his involvement in gambling. His career plummeted rapidly.

Thuong Tin's life has been full of ups and downs and difficulties in his later years.

For a time, Thuong Tin was hospitalized due to a stroke. He received help from Meritorious Artist Trinh Kim Chi. However, the two became embroiled in a controversy regarding the unclear handling of donations from benefactors.

After the controversy, Thuong Tin retreated to his hometown and lived a secluded life.

Meritorious Artist Thanh Loan

Meritorious Artist Thanh Loan had an impressive role as the nun Huyền Trang in the film "Saigon Commando".

This was also the final role in the actress's acting career. She chose to gradually disappear from the screen, citing the reason "because I was afraid no role would surpass that of Nun Huyền Trang."

She shared about her iconic role as Nun Huyền Trang, explaining that she had to spend a lot of time reading the script, analyzing the character's background and the relationships between her past, present, and future.

"In addition, the artists had to meet directly with the real-life models, who were former commando soldiers, to listen, observe, and understand their thoughts and feelings during their revolutionary activities," she once shared.

At the age of 23, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loan married her husband, a doctor of science specializing in Information Technology, who was 10 years older than her. She had previously studied directing and served as the head of the Police Film Association branch.

Currently, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loan lives peacefully and happily with her family in Hanoi.

After retiring, she devoted her time to various charitable activities. She also practiced yoga to maintain her health.

Ha Xuyen

Actress Ha Xuyen plays Ngoc Mai, an intelligence officer with the codename Z20 and the elegant wife of intelligence chief Tu Chung (the late Meritorious Artist Bui Quang Thai).

Previously, actress Ha Xuyen made an impression through the film "Far and Near," playing the role of Ha, a simple engineer from Hanoi.

After settling down, Thuy An returned to Vietnam and revealed that she is now living a peaceful life with her husband and children.
