The first ever traditional basket boat race in Cua Lo sea is captivating.
(Baonghean.vn) - On April 27th, the first ever traditional basket boat race took place at Cua Lo beach, attracting a large number of local people and tourists to watch and cheer.
The 2024 "Sea Boat Race" is jointly organized by the People's Committee of Cua Lo town and the Farmers' Association of Cua Lo town, aiming to promote Cua Lo beach tourism and create a healthy recreational activity for local people.
The race featured 14 teams from 7 wards in Cua Lo town. Each team consisted of 2 members, competing in a knockout format.
In Cua Lo town, fishing with basket boats is not only a means of livelihood but also a unique cultural feature of the people of Cua Lo. The image of basket boats bobbing on the waves has become a symbol of the coastal fishing village here. Fishing with basket boats also contributes to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the local people.
The atmosphere at the race was incredibly lively and exciting. The teams competed enthusiastically and determinedly, creating thrilling and captivating races. The cheers and shouts of the spectators echoed across the beach, creating an exhilarating atmosphere.
After a series of exciting races, the Hung and Long team from Nghi Thuy ward excellently won first prize. Second prize went to the Thuan and Binh team from Nghi Thuy ward, and third prize to the Tuan and Hoai teams from Nghi Hai and Nghi Tan wards; the consolation prize went to the teams from Thu Thuy, Nghi Hoa, and Nghi Hai wards.
