Extorting 84,000 VND, sentenced to 18 months in prison.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 26, 2015, the People's Court of Do Luong District, Nghe An Province, held the first-instance trial of the "Extortion" case against defendant Thai Anh Tai (born in 1978), residing in Block 6, Do Luong Town, Do Luong District.

According to the prosecutor's indictment: On July 16, 2015, Thai Anh Tai went to Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan's kiosk in Block 7, Do Luong town, and twice threatened and intimidated Ms. Loan with a knife, stealing a total of 84,000 VND.

It is known that Tai is a person with a criminal record. In 2003, he was sentenced to 24 months in prison by the Vinh City People's Court for "illegally possessing narcotics"; in 2009, he was fined administratively by the Do Luong District Police for "gambling".

At the trial, Thai Anh Tai admitted to the crimes as stated in the indictment and hoped the court would reduce his sentence. At the end of the trial, the court sentenced Thai Anh Tai to 18 months in prison.
