A recent video shows sophisticated criminal gangs being able to snatch phones in 3 seconds on busy streets in Brazil without the victims even noticing.
The clip, posted by a Brazilian user on September 27th, has received 3.7 million views. The short video depicts a group of seven criminals who strategically positioned themselves, assigning tasks to follow people talking on their phones on the street, and then snatching the phones right out of their hands.

Accordingly, upon spotting a target, the group would approach their "prey" from all directions. One person would walk ahead to provide cover and slow down. Four others would follow behind to obstruct the victim's view and provide rear-end protection. Then, the two perpetrators would closely pursue from behind.
With coordinated movements, one assailant would gently push the victim while the other snatched the phone and hid it in a book they were holding. Afterward, the group continued walking like ordinary pedestrians.
As soon as the attack begins, the ambushers will simultaneously turn to face the same direction, as if they have just witnessed the culprit escaping.

The victim, taken by surprise, immediately looked in that direction to find the snatcher, unaware that they were still walking a few steps beside her. The entire phone call took only 3 seconds, and no one on the street noticed. The incident occurred in broad daylight in the middle of Sao Paulo, one of Brazil's largest cities.
Many major cities in Brazil have long been known for their unstable security situation. This summer, the Olympics held there faced much criticism for a lack of security. Even Brazilian football star Rivaldo advised tourists against visiting after a mass robbery that resulted in the death of a teenage girl.
