Former Song Lam Nghe An player leaves Hong Linh Ha Tinh.

Reportedly, Nguyen Cong Manh is one of the members with the longest tenure at Hong Linh Ha Tinh. The assistant coach from Nghe An province used to assist coach Pham Minh Duc from the time when Hong Linh Ha Tinh was still Hanoi B, based in the capital.

Although coach Pham Minh Duc had to leave Thanh Sen at the beginning of the 2021 season due to poor performance, Nguyen Cong Manh was retained by the Hong Linh Ha Tinh management. It can be said that Nguyen Cong Manh is the "link" between the two "eras": Pham Minh Duc and Nguyen Thanh Cong.

Nguyen Cong Manh is a product of the Song Lam Nghe An youth academy, belonging to the 1982 generation along with Duong Hong Son, Phan Thanh Hoan, Chu Ngoc Canh... This generation has won quite a few titles in youth tournaments, notably the U16 National Championship in 1998 and three times winning the U21 National Championship (2000, 2001, 2002).

During his playing career, Nguyen Cong Manh's preferred position was attacking midfielder. With his refined individual technique, he often left spectators in awe of his subtle and spontaneous plays. He was a player with a very artistic style of play.

Having played for Song Lam Nghe An (twice), Hoa Phat Hanoi (twice), and Binh Dinh, Nguyen Cong Manh has also achieved considerable glory. Winning the V.League 2011 championship with his hometown team is the most prestigious title Nguyen Cong Manh achieved during his peak playing years.
