On the morning of May 7, 2017, in response to the distorted and false statements of Father Dang Huu Nam, parish priest of Phu Yen, An Hoa commune, Quynh Luu district, the veterans of Quy Hop district held a conference to express their outrage, condemn, and demand strict punishment for this priest.
At a conference protesting against Father Dang Huu Nam, attended by 285 delegates representing 5,763 veterans in 21 communes of Quy Hop district, it was affirmed that: Dang Huu Nam's words and actions are completely fabricated and untrue, demonstrating a reactionary, subversive nature that tramples on and denies the revolutionary achievements of the Party, the nation, and our people.

Delegates expressed outrage at the outrageous behavior of Father Dang Huu Nam, stating that his actions constituted a serious violation of the Vietnamese Constitution and laws, a violation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child; and a serious insult to the honor and dignity of millions of Vietnamese people who bravely fought and sacrificed to protect the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, so that we could have a peaceful life today.
The delegates also proposed that relevant authorities at all levels should strictly handle Dang Huu Nam in accordance with the law.
At the conclusion of the conference, the Veterans Association of Quy Hop district passed a resolution protesting against Father Dang Huu Nam, parish priest of Phu Yen, An Hoa commune, with the following contents: Regarding Father Dang Huu Nam's wrongful, reactionary, lawless, and immoral actions, contrary to religious doctrine and ethics, the Archbishop of Vinh Diocese and the Dean of Thuan Nghia Deanery are requested to take measures to stop and require Father Dang Huu Nam to immediately cease all his wrongful actions.
We request that Mr. Dang Huu Nam strictly abide by the law and refrain from making statements that incite parishioners to commit illegal acts.
Father Dang Huu Nam must apologize to the people and veterans nationwide in general, and to the people of An Hoa commune and veterans of Quynh Luu district in particular, for his statements distorting history and denying the revolutionary achievements that generations of Vietnamese people shed blood and tears to achieve the victory on April 30th.
We urge the authorities and relevant agencies at all levels to take decisive measures to promptly prevent all reactionary actions of Father Dang Huu Nam and to strictly punish him according to the law.
