Rescuers save a wooden fishing boat and 7 fishermen in distress at sea.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 26th, at the Lach Quen estuary in Quynh Luu district, the 2nd Naval Squadron of the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard handed over a distressed fishing vessel and seven fishermen to the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station. These fishermen had been rescued and brought safely ashore by the 2nd Naval Squadron's rescue team.

Earlier, at 8:05 AM on January 25th (the 28th day of the Lunar New Year of the Rooster), a wooden fishing vessel with registration number NA 95490 TS, captained by Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan (born in 1964), residing in Hamlet 12, Quynh Ngoc Commune, Quynh Luu District, was fishing at coordinates 19°07'N - 106°25'E (45 nautical miles from shore) when its engine malfunctioned and it became inoperable. The vessel sent out a distress signal via radio and contacted the Border Guard of Nghe An Province.

At 9:00 PM on the same day, the rescue vessel BP 06.19.01 of Squadron 2, Nghe An Provincial Border Guard, with 15 officers and soldiers led by Captain Le Xuan Huong, Deputy Squadron Commander, departed the port to carry out the rescue mission for the distressed vessel. At 2:15 AM, the BP 06.19.01 vessel reached the distressed vessel, provided food and supplies to the fishermen, and checked and cared for the health of the 7 crew members on board.
At 09:50 on January 26th, the rescue vessel BP 061901 of Squadron 2 - Border Guard of Nghe An province towed the distressed vessel NA 95490 TS to anchor at Lach Quen Fishing Port - Quynh Thuan - Quynh Luu.
Immediately afterwards, the relevant parties held a handover ceremony for the distressed vessel at the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station, Nghe An Provincial Border Guard Command. The Nghe An Provincial Border Guard Command presented gifts and encouraged the fishermen to overcome the incident, have a peaceful Lunar New Year (Year of the Rooster), and quickly return to sea to continue their fishing activities.
