The patient said he worked as a rickshaw driver in Hoc Mon. Since the beginning of the World Cup season, he had lost about 300 million VND in gambling. Although he had not gambled for two days, the debt was so great that he was desperate to commit suicide. After drinking three packets of rat poison, he called his family to ask them to take him to the emergency room.

A few hours earlier, Thong Nhat Hospital also admitted a male patient born in 1971, residing in Tan Binh, to the emergency room in a lethargic state due to carbamate pesticide poisoning.. The doctor had to perform endotracheal intubation to help him breathe. This morning the patient was taken off the endotracheal tube. The wife said her husband lost a football bet and tried to commit suicide.

According to Dr. Anh, poisoning by pesticides and rat poison cancomplications such as kidney failure, liver failure, heart rhythm disorders, respiratory failure, bleeding disorders..., if not treated promptly will lead to death. After discharge from the hospital, the patient also needs to be psychologically stabilized.
