Container driver who transported 39 victims from France to port in Belgium has been arrested

On the morning of October 26, a 23-year-old Northern Irish driver was arrested by the police of the Republic of Ireland at Dublin port. According to Mr. Eric van der Sypt, immediately after the container truck containing 39 victims was discovered in the UK, the Belgian side opened an investigation and quickly identified the driver who brought the container to the port of Zeebrugge on October 23. Immediately after that, a European arrest warrant was issued and on the morning of October 26, the driver was arrested at Dublin port in the Republic of Ireland.

The arrest of this suspect is considered a major turning point in the investigation because this person can provide extremely important information related to the route of the container containing the victims. According to the representative of the Belgian Prosecutor's Office, it is not yet clear whether this driver knew that the container contained 39 victims or not, and the time when the victims may have entered the container.
