Da Nang allows cruise ships to open duty-free shops and casinos

On January 8, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City announced that the city has agreed to allow shipping lines to open duty-free shops or casinos on board when the ships dock and stay overnight at Tien Sa Port (Da Nang). This decision will take effect in mid-January 2016.

The SuperStar Libra (owned by Star Cruises) will be the first ship to implement this new regulation. It is known that from the beginning of 2016, tourists will start to stay overnight in Da Nang instead of just coming and going during the day. Star Cruises is also planning to bring its newest ship, which can carry up to 4,500 passengers, to Vietnam in 2016.

It is expected that in 2016, the city will welcome more than 100,000 visitors with more than 110 cruise ships docking at Tien Sa port.
