Da Nang allows cruise ships to open duty-free shops and casinos.

On January 8th, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that the city has agreed to allow shipping companies to open duty-free shops or casinos on board when their ships dock and stay overnight at Tien Sa Port (Da Nang). This decision will take effect in mid-January 2016.

The SuperStar Libra cruise ship (Star Cruises) regularly brings tourists to Da Nang on scheduled trips.

The SuperStar Libra (owned by Star Cruises) will be the first ship to implement this new regulation. It is known that, starting in early 2016, tourists began staying overnight in Da Nang instead of just arriving and departing on the same day. Star Cruises is also planning to bring its newest ship, capable of carrying up to 4,500 passengers, to Vietnam in 2016.

It is expected that in 2016, the city will welcome more than 100,000 visitors with over 110 cruise ships docking at Tien Sa port.
