The terminal is built on a 21,000 m2 site, with a linear design similar to the existing terminal. It comprises two separate levels for departures and arrivals, 40 airline check-in counters, 42 immigration counters, and 10 boarding gates, including 4 jet bridges and 6 bus-based gates.
The elevated road section will ensure 2 lanes for traffic and 1 lane for stopping, and the parking lot and internal port traffic will provide nearly 440 parking spaces. It is expected that the completed terminal will have a capacity of 4 to 6 million passengers per year, serving 1,600 passengers per hour during peak times. After the new terminal is completed, the current terminal will become the domestic terminal.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat instructed the investor and contractors to accelerate the construction progress so that the station would be completed in time to serve international guests attending the APEC Conference in 2017 in Da Nang city.
The Deputy Minister emphasized: “This is the first project implemented under a public-private partnership model in the aviation sector. The project will serve as a foundation to attract domestic and foreign airlines to operate domestic and international routes, contributing to attracting foreign investment and creating momentum for the development of the Central region.”
