For the time being, students in the area will have a day off from school tomorrow, December 10th. Depending on the situation, further days off may be considered to ensure safety.

On the evening of December 9th, the Da Nang Department of Education and Training announced that all students in the city would have the day off tomorrow. Many schools are currently flooded.

The Department of Education requests that schools promptly inform officials, teachers, staff, and parents of students through all available communication channels.

"Due to heavy rain, many roads are still deeply flooded, so the Department has requested the City Chairman's opinion to allow all students to take a day off from school to avoid accidents on flooded roads," said Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh, Director of the Department of Education.

According to Mr. Vinh, students will initially be given a one-day break from school. Afterward, if the school area remains partially flooded, the school's leadership should inform the Department to consider extending the school break until the water recedes to ensure students' safety.

The Department of Education also instructed schools to proactively clean up the environment once the floodwaters recede. Schools that were flooded need to be disinfected to prevent the outbreak of diseases.

Heavy rain from last night until the evening of December 9th caused many streets in central Da Nang to be flooded to a depth of more than half a meter. Many houses were inundated, disrupting daily life. As of 6 PM this evening, the rain had not stopped, and many streets such as Ham Nghi and Phan Thanh were still flooded to a depth of 0.5 to 0.7 meters.

Large waves combined with high tides have also caused coastal erosion in the eastern sea area, especially at the My An sluice gate (Ngu Hanh Son district). The Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment reported that more than 10 coconut trees were knocked down, and strong currents caused erosion at the foundation of some concrete structures of the sluice gate.

In addition, a significant amount of household waste (nylon, styrofoam, leaves, small household items, etc.) along with wastewater overflows into the sea, causing unsightly conditions and polluting tourist beaches.

According to the Central Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station, due to the influence of the northeast monsoon combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone and upper-level wind convergence, Da Nang and other central provinces are experiencing heavy rainfall.

Rainfall caused flooding in the provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, and Quang Nam, resulting in two deaths. The forecast indicates that the rain will continue until December 11-12..
