According to Mr. Li, the stone's surface features a pattern resembling two pandas, making it highly valuable to collectors. He stated that he found the stone on a beach in Qingdao, China, 12 years ago.
The stone is formed from basalt, a type of igneous rock, created by the movement of magma flows under the sea. Viewed from the back, the stone looks quite ordinary with dark and light brown and black stripes. However, the front of the stone has a distinct pattern. According to Mr. Li, it depicts a large panda on one side and a smaller panda at its feet.
When Mr. Li first showed the stone to other collectors, many were astonished. One person immediately offered him $108,000 to buy it. Later, Mr. Li consulted an expert in the field, who estimated the stone's value at $23.6 million, 23 times higher than the world's most beautiful opal, the Virgin Rainbow, located in Adelaide, Australia.
Mr. Ly hopes the gemstone will be put on display so that more people can learn about it.
