Vietnamese gemstones "flow" strongly to the US market

The United States is the leading market in the export of gemstones, precious metals and products from Vietnam, reaching a value of 116.69 million USD.

According to the General Department of Customs, the export turnover of gemstones, precious metals and products of our country in the first 4 months of 2016 reached 250.21 million USD, an increase of 28.66% over the same period last year.

The United States remains the leading export market in the export table of gemstones, precious metals and products of Vietnam, reaching a value of 116.69 million USD, down 1.81% over the same period last year, accounting for 46% of total export value.

Notably, Switzerland - the second largest export market - grew very strongly, with export turnover increasing 26 times compared to the same period last year. The strong increase in exports to the Swiss market contributed to the overall growth of this product.

Third place is the Japanese market, worth 14.93 million USD, up 6.21%.

Some export markets have growth: exports to South Korea increased by 26.35%; exports to Germany increased by 7.31%; exports to Thailand increased by 13.32%; exports to the UK increased by 11.52%.

Among the markets with declining exports, Belgium was the market with the biggest decline, down 28.45% compared to the same period last year.
