Ukrainian special forces attacked and severely damaged the Yamal and Azov landing ships in Crimea.
SBU special forces recently carried out a coordinated operation to damage a Project 775 landing ship, a Mys-M1 radar system, and a strategic oil depot of the Black Sea Fleet in Crimea.
Special Forces of the Alpha Special Operations Center of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) have just carried out a large-scale attack targeting Russian military targets on the Crimean Peninsula. According to the SBU, two large Project 775 landing ships, named Yamal and Azov, along with another unidentified warship, were severely damaged.

In addition to landing ships, the SBU reported the possibility of sinking a Project 21980 Grachonok anti-sabotage vessel. The attack also precisely targeted the antenna array of the Dolphin communications system and the modern MR-10M1 "Mys-M1" coastal defense radar system.
Disable radar and strategic logistics networks.
The damaged MR-10M1 "Mys-M1" system is a specialized mobile radar used for reconnaissance, coordinate measurement, and identification of surface or low-altitude airborne targets (below 2,000m). This system played a crucial role in detecting Ukrainian UAVs and unmanned boats attacking positions along the Crimean coast.

At the same time, fuel storage tanks at the Yugtorsan oil depot in Kozacha Bay were also hit by gunfire. This is a strategically important facility of the Black Sea Fleet, responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing light and dark crude oil to warships and military equipment via rail and tankers.
Analysis of the combat capabilities of Project 775 landing ships.
Project 775 landing ships (NATO designation Ropucha) are Class 2 vessels that form the cornerstone of Russia's surface landing forces. They are designed for attacking shallow coastlines and are capable of flexibly transporting troops, cargo, and heavy armored vehicles, including tanks.

Previously, in March 2024, the Yamal suffered serious damage from a Ukrainian Storm Shadow cruise missile, resulting in a hole in the deck and the ship listing. At least one landing ship of this class was subsequently sent for repairs at Shipyard No. 13 in Sevastopol. This latest attack raises doubts about the ship's ability to fully restore its combat capability in the near future.
