(Baonghean.vn)-On February 21 (ie January 14th of the lunar calendar), Hop Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district successfully organized the Fourth Drum Beating Competition in 2016. This is a cultural activity maintained by the locality in early spring.
Participating in the competition were 10 drum teams of clans in Hop Thanh commune and 5 drum teams from Xuan Thanh, Phuc Thanh, Nhan Thanh, Long Thanh communes (Yen Thanh) and Dien Thai commune (Dien Chau) participating in the exchange.
The new feature of this competition is that the Organizing Committee has set out a general rule: each team consists of 7 to 12 members wearing traditional costumes. With 4 or more musical instruments, in 25 minutes, they will perform 9 competition parts including: beating the drum to signal preparation for the ceremony; starting the ancient battle (ie the upper temple drum); ancient three-way communication (big gong and drum rung 3 times, 9 beats); Small music work (small drum and nao rung 3 times); offering drum; gong; reading prayer drum; bowing drum and sacrificial drum for families to learn from each other.

The most exciting part is the drum beating competition, with the combination of big drums, small drums, nao drums and gongs... This is the type of drum that is often played during the ceremony of the great clan, or village festival; it consists of 3 parts, each part has a rhythm, each part has variations, all the sounds create a bustling piece of music, exciting the listeners. Although in the same district, same commune, each team has a different way of drumming, but the similarities here are all following the rules and beat, rhythm, imbued with the cultural identity of the homeland.
In addition to the core of seniors, this competition also had many young men and women participating and being creative in rhythm and beat, leaving an impression on the masses.
After a day of excitement, the results were: First prize for the Nguyen family drum team - Dong An hamlet; Second prize for the Vu family - Dinh Phung hamlet; 2nd and 3rd prizes for the Hoang family; Le family. The drum teams from other communes were presented with souvenir flags by the Organizing Committee.
