Highlights of the Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Cultural Festival in Nghia Dan
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 16th, Nghia Dan district organized the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Festival. This activity is aimed at celebrating the annual Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Festival (April 19th).
This year's Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Festival in Nghia Dan featured numerous activities such as stick pushing, crossbow shooting, ball throwing, athletics, and tug-of-war, attracting nearly 300 athletes from villages in Nghia Loi commune, including Lung Thuong, Lung Ha, Tan Cay, Tan Thai, Ngoc Lam, Hung Thinh, and Thai Thinh.

In addition, local products such as brocade fabrics of the Thai ethnic group, tools used by the ethnic group, honey, and sticky rice cakes were displayed at the festival, attracting the attention of many people.
Notably, the festival features a cooking competition between villages. Each village organizes the purchase and selection of ingredients and prepares dishes. In addition to everyday dishes, specialties reflecting the unique cultural identity of the Thai and Tho ethnic groups, such as five-colored sticky rice, thorn cakes, ot soup, grilled stream fish, bamboo rice, bitter bamboo shoots, and sour meat, are prepared and decorated elaborately by the teams, creating an unforgettable experience for those who enjoy them.



The Ethnic Culture Festival is also an opportunity to introduce and honor the beautiful traditional cultural values of the ethnic communities in the area, for artisans, performers, and athletes to meet, interact, and exchange experiences; to preserve, conserve, and promote the beautiful values of the ethnic groups in Nghia Dan district, contributing to building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture rich in national identity.
On November 17, 2008, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1668/QD-TTg designating April 19th as the "Vietnamese Ethnic Groups' Culture Day". Since then, the Vietnamese Ethnic Groups' Culture Day has been celebrated with numerous activities throughout the country to honor the cultural identity of ethnic groups. In Nghe An province, the Day has been organized in many localities, providing opportunities for the ethnic communities to interact, exchange, and showcase their cultural identities through local and community cultural activities.
