This year, on the eve of Tet, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nhat's family in Hamlet 6, Thanh Nho Commune, Thanh Chuong District, is very happy because his children and grandchildren who work far away have returned. Along with the family reunion atmosphere to celebrate Tet, he often welcomes customers and traders from near and far to buy Bu oranges. Although he is not a farmer, his Bu orange garden at home also brings in about 500 kg of income.

Mr. Nhat is just one of many households in Thanh Nho commune of Thanh Chuong district that still preserves the native tangerine variety. There are also many households that successfully grow tangerine such as Mr. Vo Van Ky and Mr. Vo Van Mau in hamlet 10, each with over 50 trees that have fruit. Mr. Ky said that in the past, tangerine was the main specialty of this land, after many changes, especially migration... a few decades ago, in his garden, there was only one tangerine tree left, but realizing its advantages, he propagated it for his family and people in the area.

In addition to Thanh Nho commune and Cat Ngan communes of Thanh Chuong district, the pomelo tree is also a crop that brings in a good income for the Youth Volunteer Corps 5 in Thanh Thuy commune. Currently, the entire unit has nearly 30 hectares, mainly of the pomelo variety Huong Son Ha Tinh, with the outstanding feature of larger fruit than the native pomelo.

According to orange growers and consumers, the biggest advantage of the pomelo is that the fruit ripens right on Tet, has an eye-catching yellow-red color, is easy to peel, the segments are juicy and easy to separate, when used, there is no need to use a knife, especially it has a unique aroma that cannot be mixed. The pomelo peel is similar to the peel of the kumquat and can be used as a spice and medicine. With such advantages, pomelos have a high price and are very easy to sell.

In addition to selling at local markets, she and many other team members also use cars to transport oranges to Vinh city and other districts for sale. Ms. Long estimates that the income from this orange crop could reach over 200 million VND.

In the colorful abundance of the Lunar New Year market, Thanh Chuong oranges are still welcomed and trusted by the villagers, almost all of them are sold out./.
