Due to a shortage of raw materials and high input costs, some households are currently unable to survive and have had to temporarily suspend production. Other establishments are operating at a reduced capacity, cutting about 50% of their regular workforce.
Faced with these difficulties, the price of processed peeled shrimp on the market has now risen to record levels. For peeled shrimp produced from tiger shrimp, the price has increased from 600,000 VND/kg to 1.1 - 1.2 million VND/kg. For whiteleg shrimp, the price has now reached over 2 million VND/kg. However, this type of shrimp is rarely used to produce peeled shrimp due to its high cost.

Despite facing many difficulties, according to the predictions of the people in the coastal area, when the weather stabilizes, boats will all return to sea, and the seafood catch, including fresh shrimp, will increase.
Peeled shrimp is produced year-round, but the peak season is from April to September due to the abundant supply of sea shrimp. The shrimp selected for peeling must be fresh and uniform in size. Thanks to the development of the peeled shrimp processing industry, nearly 25,000 tons of fresh shrimp are consumed annually for fishermen. Furthermore, shrimp are imported from other districts such as Quynh Luu, Nghi Loc, and Cua Lo. Currently, there are about 150 households engaged in peeled shrimp processing in Dien Chau, including 20 specialized peeled shrimp processing facilities concentrated in Dien Ngoc and Dien Bich communes. Dien Chau's peeled shrimp production reaches 22 tons per year, generating approximately 14 billion VND in revenue. Peeled shrimp has been selected by the Dien Chau District People's Committee as one of the local OCOP (One Commune One Product) products.
