Vietnam's representative failed to make the Top 15 at Miss International 2018.
Thùy Tiên was eliminated after three rounds of competition in the final round currently taking place in Japan.
The Miss International 2018 pageant marked the 58th edition of the event. The final took place at Tokyo Dome City Hall with the theme "Empowering Women". 77 contestants from various countries and territories competed in the "National Costume", "Evening Gown", and "Q&A" segments. The winner received the crown from her predecessor, Kevin Lilliana.

To begin, the contestants wore national costumes and performed according to their respective continents. Thuy Tien wore a stylized ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) titled "Vietnam - A Land of a Thousand Miles," with the train depicting famous landmarks of the country. She stumbled slightly while walking but quickly regained her composure to complete her performance.

The bikini segment followed, with each country from different continents showcasing their chosen swimwear. Thuy Tien wore a one-piece swimsuit in blue and white tones, walking the final way.

Following the evening gown competition, the organizers announced the Top 15, which included representatives from Romania, Mexico, Philippines, Ecuador, Thailand, South Africa, Australia, Paraguay, Japan, Colombia, Venezuela, Indonesia, Ukraine, Spain, and Madagascar. Vietnamese contestant Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien was eliminated.
Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien was a Top 5 finalist in Miss Vietnam 2018. She is 1.7m tall with measurements of 82-61-91 cm. Thuy Tien has good English skills and is sociable with the other contestants. On the first day of the competition, Thuy Tien brought a conical hat to give to the other contestants. At the opening ceremony on October 23rd, Thuy Tien sang the song "I See Yellow Flowers on Green Grass" in three languages – Vietnamese, English, and Japanese.
Thùy Tiên competed in Miss International 2018 after Thúy An, the second runner-up of Miss Vietnam 2018, withdrew due to health reasons. She didn't have much time to prepare.
Miss International is one of the world's major beauty pageants, established in 1960. Since 2012, the competition has been held annually in Japan, conveying a message of love and understanding. In 2015, Thuy Van won the 3rd Runner-up title, Vietnam's best achievement in this beauty pageant.
