The 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Ky Son District
The congress was held this morning (June 26) with the theme "Solidarity - Innovation - Promoting advantages, potential for integration and sustainable development".
Attending the congress were comrades: Vi Hoe - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Ky Son district; representatives of the provincial Ethnic Committee, leaders of Noong Het district (Laos), and 119 outstanding delegates representing ethnic minorities in the entire district.


Ky Son is a mountainous, remote border district, especially difficult, belonging to the 74 poorest districts of the country, enjoying the 30a regime and policy of the Government. Ky Son has an area of 2,094.84 km2(2nd largest in Nghe An province), rugged mountainous terrain, steep slopes (over 98% steep hills, only over 1% flat land). The district is adjacent to 4 districts in 3 provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a border of over 203.409 km and is one of the districts with the longest border in the country.

The district's population is 83,480 people, including 5 main ethnic groups, including: the Khmu ethnic group has 30,992 people, accounting for 37.13%; the Mong ethnic group has 28,621 people, accounting for 34.28%; the Thai ethnic group has 21,095 people, accounting for 25.27%; the Kinh and Hoa ethnic groups have 2,772 people, accounting for 3.32%... People's lives still have many difficulties.


In recent years, the Party and State have continued to have many policies and guidelines giving priority to mountainous areas and ethnic minorities in the fields of economy, culture - society, national defense - security such as: National target programs for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; new rural construction and sustainable poverty reduction.

Through programs and investment projects in infrastructure construction, socio-economic development, hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and new rural construction, the overall face of the district has been changed. The economy has gradually grown well, infrastructure has been strengthened, many welfare projects have been built, and the new rural construction movement has achieved many good results.
Education, health, population and culture have many positive changes. Political security is stable, social order and safety are ensured. Ethnic minorities in the district have absolute trust in the leadership and direction of the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front and sectors and organizations in the political system.

At the congress, many enthusiastic opinions of ethnic minorities in Ky Son district exchanged many lessons and experiences in economic development associated with security and defense work, promoting the role of prestigious people in the community, enhancing the great national unity bloc. Some opinions also proposed and recommended to all levels and sectors on policies to encourage and support ethnic minorities in the area to continue to rise up in all fields.

At the congress, the Provincial Ethnic Committee awarded 10 individuals with many outstanding achievements in ethnic work, period 2019-2024. The District People's Committee also awarded 11 collectives and 11 individuals of ethnic minorities with many outstanding achievements in the recent period.
The congress elected 30 outstanding delegates representing over 80,000 ethnic minorities in Ky Son district to attend the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Nghe An province.
