The 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Quy Chau District
On the afternoon of June 13, Quy Chau district held the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities, term 2024-2029.
Attending the congress were comrades: Phan Thanh Doai - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission; Que Thi Tram Ngoc - Deputy Head of the Ethnic Minorities Commission, Provincial People's Council; Luc Thi Lien - Deputy Head of the Culture - Social Commission, Provincial People's Council; Luong Van Khanh - Deputy Head of the Ethnic Minorities Commission of Nghe An province; representatives of district leaders along with more than 150 delegates representing over 49,000 ethnic minority people in the district.

During the past term, ethnic work has always been identified by the Party Committee and government from the district to the grassroots as a regular task of the political system, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development in the district. The growth rate increased from 8.9% in 2019 to 9.1% in 2023, the average income per capita increased from 25.9 million VND in 2019 to 34.2 million VND in 2023. The poverty rate gradually decreased from 42.04% at the end of 2021 to 32.37% at the end of 2023, and people's lives were significantly improved.
Infrastructure systems have received attention for investment and construction. Up to now, roads to commune centers have been paved. 12/12 communes have national grid electricity, 100% of households have access to grid electricity, and 100% of communes and towns have radio and television coverage.
The cultural identity of ethnic groups continues to be preserved and promoted, linking the development of traditional culture of ethnic minorities with the development of community tourism. Social security work is taken care of, and the material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved.
These results demonstrate the success in the leadership and drastic direction of the Party Committee and the district government in carrying out ethnic work and implementing ethnic policies; aiming to contribute greatly to the implementation of the Resolution of the 26th District Party Congress, term 2020-2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Luong Van Khanh - Deputy Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Nghe An province highly appreciated the results of ethnic work of Quy Chau district in recent times, and pointed out the shortcomings and limitations. Accordingly, the locality needs to strengthen the building of great national unity, create high consensus and firm belief of ethnic minorities in the leadership of the Party and State; Actively mobilize resources, effectively exploit the potential and advantages of the locality to accelerate the speed of socio-economic development, reduce the poverty rate by 4-5% and sustainably reduce poverty; Increase investment in building physical facilities and socio-economic infrastructure; focus on developing agriculture and forestry; Effectively implement social policies for extremely difficult areas; develop culture, education, health care; improve the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities, promote and preserve traditional cultural values of the nation; Maintain political security and ensure social order and safety, contributing to the successful implementation of local socio-economic development tasks.


The congress elected 21 outstanding delegates representing over 49,000 ethnic minorities in Quy Chau district to attend the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Nghe An province. At the same time, the provincial Ethnic Committee awarded certificates of merit to 8 groups, and the Chairman of the district People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 8 groups and 10 individuals with many achievements in building and contributing to the cause of ethnic development in the past 5 years.
