The 2nd Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Thai Hoa Town in 2024
On the morning of June 25, Thai Hoa town organized the 2nd Congress of Ethnic Minorities in 2024. Attending the Congress were representatives of the Provincial Ethnic Committee, the Provincial Labor Federation, Nghe An Newspaper, and Thai Hoa town. There were 93 delegates who are prominent and prestigious ethnic minorities representing the ethnic minority community in Thai Hoa town attending the Congress.

Thai Hoa town currently has a population of about 71,126 people, of which Thanh, Thai, Tho ethnic minorities have 7,488 people, accounting for 10.5%. Ethnic minorities in Thai Hoa town live in the communes and wards of Nghia Tien, Long Son, Quang Tien, Quang Phong and are scattered throughout the area. In recent years, ethnic minorities in Thai Hoa town have promoted solidarity with Kinh ethnic people to promote socio-economic development, gradually rising with many well-off and rich households.
At the same time, ethnic programs and policies have been promptly implemented by the town and all levels and sectors, contributing to improving infrastructure and welfare works, creating favorable conditions for ethnic groups to develop their economy and exchange culture. Education and health care for ethnic groups have been improved. In particular, in the new development stage, the Thanh, Thai and Tho ethnic groups in Thai Hoa town have both integrated well and preserved and promoted the good cultural values of their ethnic groups, creating unique cultural marks.


Many gong culture clubs, folk culture, bamboo dances, carvings, mourning practices, singing, and final songs of the Tho people have been restored and staged to attract people to participate and spread. These cultural forms are performed annually at the Vac Village Festival, along with cultural and artistic activities and folk games of the ethnic groups.
At the congress, many enthusiastic opinions of ethnic minorities in Thai Hoa town exchanged many lessons and experiences in economic development, promoting the role of prestigious people in the community, enhancing the great national unity bloc. Some opinions also proposed and recommended to all levels and sectors on policies to encourage and support ethnic minorities in the area to continue to rise in all fields.

The Congress of ethnic minorities in Thai Hoa town also mentioned the joint efforts of all levels, sectors, localities and people in building the town into a socio-economic center of the Northwest region of Nghe An.
Since implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TU (dated July 2, 2021) of the Provincial Party Standing Committee "on building and developing Thai Hoa town into a central urban area of the Northwest region of Nghe An", Party committees, authorities, and organizations at all levels have taken drastic action with the high solidarity of cadres, party members, ethnic minorities, and businesses to implement many effective programs and projects. Ethnic minorities have actively participated in the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas" associated with the project "Building a civilized urban lifestyle".

During the development process, Thai Hoa town focuses on sustainable steps, based on promoting the cultural identity of the Northwest region of the province, including the cultural characteristics of the Thanh, Thai and Tho ethnic groups.
On that basis, the delegates unanimously approved the resolution letter at the congress with promoting the great national unity bloc; boosting socio-economic development; promoting the unique cultural values of ethnic groups; contributing with the entire Party Committee, government, organizations and people of the town to successfully implement Resolution 02-NQ/TU, Thai Hoa town associated with the implementation of Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW dated July 18, 2023 of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045; determined to build the town to soon become a city before 2030 and be one of the 6 urban centers of the province.


On this occasion, the Provincial Ethnic Committee awarded 5 individuals with many outstanding achievements in ethnic work, period 2019-2024. The Town People's Committee also awarded 6 collectives and 8 individuals of ethnic minorities with many outstanding achievements in the recent period.
