15th Congress of the Vinh City Red Cross Society
(Baonghean.vn)ButOn the morning of September 29th, the Vinh City Red Cross Society held its 15th Congress of Delegates (2016-2021 term).
Attending the event were representatives from the Provincial Red Cross Society, the Vinh City People's Committee, various departments under the Vinh City Party Committee and People's Committee, representatives from the Red Cross Societies of districts and towns in the province, and delegates representing 21,081 Red Cross members throughout the city.

Over the past term, thanks to the leadership and attention of all levels of government, and the efforts of officials, members, youth, and volunteers, the Red Cross movement in Vinh City has developed steadily and comprehensively, making a positive contribution to the implementation of the Party and State's social welfare policies in the locality.

A highlight of the activities of the Vinh City Red Cross Society is its focus on consolidating, building, and improving the quality of the Society and its members. At the beginning of the 2011 term, the Society had 420 branches in neighborhoods and schools; currently, it has 445 (an increase of 25 branches), and the number of members has increased from over 15,000 to 21,081.
The quality of grassroots and branch associations has gradually improved, with the number of outstanding grassroots associations increasing from 13 to 19 out of 25, reaching 76%, and 402 out of 445 branches achieving outstanding status. Typical examples of units that have developed membership and maintained good operations include the Red Cross associations of Le Loi, Truong Thi, and Ben Thuy wards, and Nghi Phu and Nghi Lien communes…

This congress received many insightful contributions from grassroots units. These contributions consistently emphasized the need to strengthen and improve the quality of the association's organization, especially at the grassroots level; to promote and enhance the association's prestige and image; to gradually build sustainable resources for the association's activities; and to improve its capacity for policy advocacy, policy advice, and partnership building in humanitarian work.

The Congress also announced the list of 25 Executive Committee members, 3 Inspection Committee members, and 5 Standing Committee members. In addition, the Congress announced the list of 20 delegates to attend the 8th Congress of the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society.

For the upcoming 2016-2021 term, the Vinh City Red Cross Society has set several specific goals, directions, and tasks. These include striving to have 7,000-8,000 people register to donate blood annually; mobilizing 3,000-3,500 gifts per year for humanitarian movements; and ensuring that local branches have a minimum humanitarian fund of 10 million VND per year. The society will continue to implement its four strategic priorities: humanitarian social work, disaster prevention and response activities, participation in healthcare, and promoting blood donation.
