Second Congress of the Nghe An Provincial Vovinam Federation

Vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts) was created by the late martial arts master Nguyen Loc in Hanoi in 1938, based on traditional Vietnamese martial arts and wrestling, while also incorporating the best elements of several other martial arts styles from around the world.

VovinamThey returned to Nghe An around 2007 with several clubs in Hung Nguyen district and Vinh city, established and coached by coach Tran Van Bien.

In 2014, the Nghe An Vovinam Association was established and is now the Nghe An Provincial Vovinam Federation. During the past term, the Executive Committee has always been united and in agreement, overcoming difficulties and proactively and creatively managing activities; thus, they have successfully achieved the goals and tasks set by the Federation.

During the past term, the Nghe An Provincial Vovinam Federation achieved many positive results. Every year, thousands of students participate in regular training and activities; Vovinam is an official sport in the 20th Phu Dong Sports Festival of Nghe An province, through which outstanding athletes were selected to participate in the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in Vovinam.

In the 2023-2024 school year, Nghe An participated in the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival, winning 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, and 2 bronze medals, ranking 9th out of 39 competing teams in Vovinam. During this term, the high-performance Vovinam department, under the Provincial Sports Training Center, with many generations of athletes, has achieved many successes in national championships, national sports festivals, and world competitions.

Building upon the achievements of the first term (2014-2024), the second term, starting in 2025, will continue to leverage strengths, overcome weaknesses and difficulties, and gradually expand activities.

In collaboration with the Department of Education and Training, we will gradually introduce Vovinam into schools, and continue to organize training for physical education teachers throughout the province with the aim of making Vovinam an elective subject in schools.

Expand the model of making Vovinam an elective physical education subject for universities, colleges, vocational schools, and high schools in the province.

In his address to the congress, Mr. Hoang Van Phuc, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, commended, acknowledged, and highly appreciated the achievements of the Nghe An Provincial Vovinam Federation.

Mr. Hoang Van Phuc suggested that the federation should closely coordinate with the Department of Culture and Sports; the Department of Education and Training; and the Culture and Information Departments of districts, cities, and towns... to promote Vovinam activities among young students in schools. This is a huge human resource for selecting and training Vovinam talents for the province's high-performance sports teams.

At the congress, 22 individuals were elected to the Executive Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Vovinam Federation for the second term (2024-2029). Also at the congress, with the trust of the Executive Committee members, Mr. Nguyen Cong Minh – Member of the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee, Member of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies Bloc, and Secretary of the Youth Union of the Provincial Agencies Bloc of Nghe An Province – was elected as the President of the Nghe An Provincial Vovinam Federation for the second term. The congress also elected 3 Vice Presidents and 1 General Secretary.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the Vietnam Vovinam Federation decided to award a Certificate of Commendation to the Nghe An Provincial Vovinam Federation for its outstanding achievements during the past term.

The Department of Culture and Sports awarded certificates of commendation to individuals who have made significant contributions to the sports movement in general and martial arts in particular in Nghe An province.
