British Ambassador conquers 70 km of mountain trail in Sa Pa

Giles Lever, the British Ambassador to Vietnam, finished fourth in the 70km race of the international marathon held in Sa Pa, Lao Cai.

Starting at 4 am on September 24th, British Ambassador Giles Lever crossed the finish line after more than 10 hours conquering the 70 km route through many beautiful, pristine hills, mountains, and valleys in Sa Pa. This is not the first time the British Ambassador has participated in this race. Last year, heGiles Lever competed in the 42 km race.

The first to finish the 70km race this year was a French tourist. Over 100 foreigners and Vietnamese participated in this race, starting at dawn and gradually increasing in altitude along the way, from nearly 1,000m to 1,780m, with spectacular views of the Hoang Lien mountain range and terraced rice fields changing color as the rice ripens.

This distance is part of the annual international marathon held in Sa Pa.This year, over 1,500 people registered for the race, a 1.5-fold increase compared to last year. The race also includes other distances such as 10 km, 21 km, 42 km, and for the first time, a 100 km course.
