The Russian Foreign Ministry said that unidentified individuals threw flares and petrol bombs at the Russian embassy in Poland.

Russian Foreign Ministry Deputy Spokesman Ivan Nechaev said on November 17 that the Russian Embassy in Warsaw was attacked last week by unidentified perpetrators and that Moscow has requested Poland to open an investigation into the incident.

Speaking to the press, Ivan Nechaev said: “On the night of November 11th and the early morning of November 12th, unidentified individuals attempted to attack our diplomatic mission in Warsaw twice.” According to Nechaev, they threw flares and bottles containing flammable liquid over the embassy fence. Meanwhile, Polish police “passively observed” without making any effort to apprehend the perpetrators, the official stated. He emphasized that the attack, which occurred in the center of the Polish capital near government buildings, was deeply concerning and showed Warsaw was violating its obligations regarding the protection of diplomatic missions.

Nechaev called on Poland to “ensure the security of Russian diplomatic and consular missions,” and demanded that authorities investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Following Russia's military operation in Ukraine in late February, its diplomatic missions abroad have been repeatedly attacked. On February 26, the sign of the Russian Embassy in Warsaw was vandalized and several windows were broken. Around the same time, protesters at the Russian Embassy in Ireland removed the Russian coat of arms from the building. On May 9, Sergey Andreev, Russia's special envoy to Poland, was attacked by protesters while laying flowers at the Soviet Army Cemetery in Warsaw.
