Chinese Ambassador: Sino-US relations are at a crossroads.

In a letter sent to the Chinese American community before leaving office,Chinese AmbassadorIn the US, Cui Tiankai affirmed that in the 42 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the US, both sides have achieved many historical accomplishments, and the interests of the two countries are closely intertwined. He added that overseas Chinese in the US have always been important "people's ambassadors" promoting friendly exchanges between China and the US.

He also argued that Sino-American relations are currently at a crossroads, with U.S. policy toward China undergoing a new restructuring, and the U.S. facing a choice between cooperative dialogue and confrontation. In this context, overseas Chinese in the U.S. need to shoulder important responsibilities and missions, acting as a strong driving force and making positive contributions to the healthy and stable development of Sino-American relations.

Cui Tiankai, 69 years old, has been China's ambassador to the United States since April 2013, making him the longest-serving Chinese ambassador to the US to date. Having served under three US presidents (Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden), Cui is considered a "stabilizing anchor" in US-China relations. According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Ambassador Cui is regarded as a moderate, knowledgeable individual with professional diplomatic skills.

Although there has been no official information from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, public opinion suggests that Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang, who previously served as the spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will replace Cui Tiankai as China's ambassador to the United States in the near future.
