Police captain extorts money.
Nguyen Van Hung, former head of the Khanh An commune police, has been indicted on charges of misappropriating people's property.
In May 2018, Captain Nguyen Van Hung, Head of the Khanh An Commune Police Station, U Minh District (Ca Mau), received a report about Mr. Cao Van Dot's son taking his 15-year-old girlfriend to a motel.
Even though they knew the incident did not constitute a crime.Sexual intercourse with a minor,Hung and police officer Pham Van Nguyen threatened Mr. Dot, forcing him to pay 20 million VND (receiving 10 million VND in advance) to ensure his son would not go to prison.
Later, Nguyen continued to pressure Mr. Dot to pay the remaining 10 million dong. Since he didn't have the money, Mr. Dot borrowed it. Upon learning that he borrowed the money to bribe the local police, the lender filed a complaint.
Following an investigation, on September 10th, the Investigation Agency of the Supreme People's Procuracy initiated criminal proceedings against Hung and Nguyen for the crime of...Abuse of position and authority to misappropriate assets.According to Article 355 of the 2015 Penal Code.
