Ensuring food safety and hygiene during the Mid-Autumn Festival 2025

During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the commodity market is quite vibrant and this is the peak time for the authorities to strengthen inspection and supervision, promptly detect and handle violations of the law. Recently, the People's Committee of Nghe An province has established an interdisciplinary team to inspect the implementation of regulations on ensuring food safety during the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2025 in the province.

Strengthen inspection and handling of violations

According to Decision No. 2788/QD-UBND on the establishment of an interdisciplinary inspection team to inspect compliance with regulations on ensuring food safety during the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2025, the inspection will take place from September 5, 2025 to October 6, 2025. The goal is to inspect and monitor the quality of foods and products serving the holiday needs, with the participation of officials from the Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Health, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Provincial Police,...

Accordingly, the inspection team is responsible for inspecting, detecting and handling violations of food safety laws (if any); At the same time, guiding the implementation of regulations on ensuring food safety in the production, processing, trading, importing food and catering services in Nghe An province. The inspection subjects include: Food safety advisory and management agencies of wards and communes; Organizations and individuals producing, processing, trading, importing food and catering services in the province.

Through inspection activities, violations of food safety are promptly detected, prevented and handled, food poisoning and foodborne diseases are limited, contributing to the care and protection of people's health. At the same time, violations by facility owners are strictly handled, if there are signs of criminality, the case will be transferred to the police for handling according to the provisions of law.

During the production and processing process, we always try to ensure safe ingredients, use fresh, clean ingredients, and meet food safety standards. The production environment is clean, preventing the intrusion of insects and harmful animals. At the same time, remind employees to carry out the production process, including checking the ingredients, production process and finished products. Our facility has signed a commitment to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, sent samples for testing and self-declared products for moon cakes sent by the production facility to the State management agency in accordance with the provisions of law.

Ms. Cao Thi Tam - specialist of the Department of Environmental Safety Engineering, Department of Industry and Trade, member of the inspection team said: During the inspection process, the team focused on reminding production facilities to train employees to ensure full awareness of food safety knowledge to properly practice regulations in the process of food production, processing and trading. Focus on building internal quality control procedures, especially controlling the quality of input materials and properly implementing safe production processes.

Regularly monitor and maintain food safety conditions throughout the production and business process to ensure product quality and safety and implement Self-Declaration of products according to the law. The delegation also requires establishments to be transparent about product information, including ingredients, nutritional value and instructions for use.

Focus on propaganda, sign commitments to raise awareness

By September 25, the delegation had inspected 14 food production and trading establishments, including: 8 moon cake and other cake production and trading establishments under the management of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, 2 food service establishments under the management of the health sector, and 4 establishments under the management of the agricultural sector.

Accordingly, 2 establishments violating food safety regulations were handled with a fine of 16 million VND. Specifically: 01 establishment trading in flour and baking ingredients violated regulations on business areas and food storage warehouses without adequate shelves, fined 12 million VND; 1 establishment providing food services, not complying with the law on the three-step food inspection regime, fined 4 million VND.

The interdisciplinary inspection team also inspected and guided 6 food safety steering committees of wards and communes including Thanh Vinh ward, Vinh Loc ward, and the communes of Tan Ky, Tan Phu, Con Cuong, and Mon Son.

In addition, implementing the direction of the Nghe An Provincial Market Management Department on strengthening the inspection and control of goods during the Mid-Autumn Festival, on September 17, 2025, Market Management Team No. 7 coordinated with the People's Committee of Na Ngoi Commune, the Commune Police and the Border Guard of Na Ngoi Commune to inspect business establishments in the area. Through the inspection, 4 establishments were fined for trading in goods of unknown origin in the area with a fine of 7 million VND, the value of destroyed goods was 2.28 million VND.

Mr. Phan Van Bay - Market Management Team No. 7 said: During the inspection process, we combined propaganda and signed commitments with production and business establishments to comply with legal regulations on goods trading and ensuring food safety; compliance with regulations on standard declaration, product conformity declaration and regulations on goods quality.

When buying moon cakes and candies, consumers need to choose reputable businesses, carefully check the product label with full information of the manufacturing facility, address and origin; and expiry date. Before eating, check again by senses such as color, taste, and other unusual signs.

Currently, the authorities are strengthening the management of the area, coordinating with relevant authorities and local authorities to inspect and control organizations and individuals producing and trading goods for the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2025. From there, promptly detect and handle violations of food safety, smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, goods violating intellectual property rights, goods of unknown origin, etc., contributing to stabilizing the market, protecting the rights and interests of consumers in the assigned management area.
