Stabbed a colleague to death just because he didn't go to a funeral.
From blaming a friend for not attending the funeral of a co-worker's father leading to conflict, Doan Van Chien and his colleagues were killed, one was sentenced...
On April 4, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court of First Instance sentenced Doan Van Chien (born 1993) to 16 years in prison for murder.
As in the previous trial, Chien admitted his crime and asked for leniency from the law. The prosecutor proposed a sentence of 16 to 18 years in prison for Chien and the court considered the sentence.
The trial, which opened a month ago, had to be postponed because the civil part was unclear, which was the victim's child's birth certificate... Before that, Chien's father had also compensated the victim's family 150 million VND.

According to records, on the afternoon of April 27, 2017, Chien and Pham Minh Phuong and a number of other workers were drinking alcohol in the yard of the Green Energy Factory (Tan Thoi Hiep Industrial Park, Hiep Thanh Ward, District 12).
That evening, Chien and Phuong argued because Chien thought Phuong did not attend the funeral of a co-worker's father. Angry at Chien's accusation, Phuong cursed and challenged Chien to a fight, but was stopped by everyone. After that, Chien ran home to get a knife and returned to the drinking place to find Phuong.
While the two were arguing, Chien stabbed Phuong with a knife, causing him to collapse on the spot. People quickly took the victim to the emergency room, but he died later.
After committing the crime, Chien left the scene and threw away the knife. The next day, upon hearing that his colleague had died, Chien turned himself in to the police.
