Man fatally stabs someone over a challenge made in a coffee shop.
Because of a dispute over borrowing a pipe in a coffee shop and a few exchanged words, the young man brandished a knife and killed someone, but was subsequently arrested while attempting to flee.
On February 8th, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Binh Chanh District Police, Ho Chi Minh City, urgently arrested Nguyen Hoai Son (23 years old, residing in District 8) to investigate his involvement in a murder.
The murdered victim was Mr. D.GP (19 years old, residing in District 8).
Earlier, on February 4th, Son was sitting alone at a coffee shop in Binh Hung commune, Binh Chanh district.
At that moment, Mr. P. approached and asked to borrow Sơn's pipe from the nearby shop. When Sơn said "take it," Mr. P. took the pipe and said something that Sơn couldn't hear clearly.
Son asked Mr. P. why he wasn't leaving and what he was doing standing there. Mr. P. replied, "What business is it of mine standing here bothering you?", then went upstairs to the restaurant.
Enraged, Son pulled out a knife he had on him and went upstairs to the restaurant to find Mr. P.
Seeing Mr. P. sitting with his friends in the cafe, Son approached him, verbally abused him, and physically assaulted him. When Mr. P. fought back, Son attacked him with a knife before fleeing the cafe.
Mr. P. was stabbed at the restaurant and was taken to the hospital by his friends, but he died later.
After committing the crime, while fleeing, Son threw the weapon off the Can Giuoc bridge in District 8 and then took a bus to Da Lat to hide.
The police launched an investigation and tracked down Son, arresting him while he was on a passenger bus in Duc Trong district, Lam Dong province.
Initially, Son admitted to the actions described above.
