People suffer because of the delayed bridge construction.

(Baonghean.vn) - Construction of Khe Than Bridge in Tien Ky commune (Tan Ky district) is currently suspended due to a lack of funds for land clearance.

In May 2015, Tan Ky district held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a permanent bridge across Than stream in Tien Ky. The people were all excited because for generations, the people of Tien Ky had to live in isolation during the rainy season when Than stream overflowed and was flooded.

The Than Stream Bridge has completed 2 out of 2 bridge piers, after 4 months of construction.

For several months now, the construction unit has been working at a fairly rapid pace, continuously for many months. Mr. Tan, a resident of Hamlet 1, Tien Ky Commune, living near the Than stream spillway, confided: "In the first few months, the construction unit worked diligently, sometimes even using electric lights to work at night. Seeing that, we were happy and hoped for a quick completion so that people could travel more easily, and my family would have less hardship."

The road across the bridge has been marked out, passing through people's gardens, awaiting land clearance.

Mr. Vi Hong Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Ky commune, said: "The Trai Lat - Cay Chanh road, which runs through Tien Ky district, is also a vital road for the locality. Therefore, people regularly travel on this road every day to go to school, to the hospital, and motorcycles transport agricultural products for sale... When the government invested in building a concrete bridge across Khe Than, the locality considered this a 'lifesaving' project for the socio-economic development of the area."

After the Khe Than bridge is completed, Tien Ky will focus on exploiting the potential of its land by developing areas for planting acacia, sugarcane, and cassava.

Locals hope that the sturdy bridge across Khe Than stream will be completed soon so that they will not be cut off during the rainy season due to the stream overflowing with water.

However, construction on the bridge is currently halted. Mr. Le Nguyen Chat, Director of Minh Sang Company, stated: "During the project implementation, the company accelerated the construction progress. However, the local authorities need to expedite land clearance."

The construction company hopes that the local authorities will expedite the land clearance process for the project.

Minh Sang Joint Stock Company's machinery and equipment are ready for construction once the site is available.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Duc, Director of the Tan Ky District Project Management Board, said: The Khe Than Bridge project was approved by the province with an investment of 42 billion VND, of which 9 billion VND has been disbursed so far. The progress of the construction unit is in line with the disbursed funds. The difficulty lies in the lack of funding, which has prevented the land clearance process from being completed.

The Khe Than Bridge was constructed according to permanent bridge standards using prestressed reinforced concrete, with a length of over 112 meters, a width of 7 meters, and approach roads built to mountainous road standards (Class V), with a roadbed width of 6.5 meters and a road surface width of 3.5 meters.

The bridge consists of 3 spans with a total investment of 37 billion 143 million VND. The project is being undertaken by a joint venture between Minh Sang Construction Joint Stock Company and Dai Son Construction Consulting and Investment Joint Stock Company, with a completion schedule of 24 months, starting from the commencement date (April 2015).
