An unforgettable moment at the first SEA Games in Vietnam.

In 2003, at the opening ceremony of the 22nd SEA Games, the first of its kind held in Vietnam, the song "For a Better World Tomorrow" by composer Quang Vinh resonated through the performance of 22 artists. The choir that year included prominent figures who were later awarded the title of People's Artist, such as Trung Duc, Vi Hoa, and Tan Minh.

This event is not only a milestone for Vietnamese sports but also leaves a profound cultural mark. With lyrics like "Holding hands, walking together, for the happiness of humanity…", the song has become a part of the memories of many generations, symbolizing the spirit of solidarity and friendship.

People's Artist Trung Duc: From the battlefield to the big stage

People's Artist Trung Duc, born in 1952 in Ha Dong (Hanoi), had a unique beginning. In 1972, while a literature student, he volunteered to join the army and became a tank driver in the 559th Regiment in Truong Son. Although only an amateur singer performing for his comrades in the trenches, his voice was loved by many.

After leaving the army, a turning point came for him when he won first prize in a singing competition in Ha Tay province. From there, he began his professional artistic career, studying at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music. His name is associated with classic works such as "Chào em cô gái Lam Hồng" (Greetings, my girl from Lam Hong) and "Chiếc gậy Trường Sơn" (The Truong Son Walking Stick). He was awarded the title of People's Artist in 2007.
