North Koreans hope Mr. Trump will defeat Mrs. Clinton in this year's US presidential election.

According to Yonhap, the above information was obtained by journalist Keisuke Fukuda, an editor of Toyo Keizai magazine (Japan) specializing in reporting on North Korea, during his recent survey in North Korea.

“North Korean officials and people show interest in the US presidential election and seem to be closely following its results,” said journalist Keisuke Fukuda.

Mr. Fukuda made an eight-day trip to the North Korean cities of Pyongyang and Wonsan late last month. The Japanese journalist said that during this trip, he talked with a number of North Koreans, including about the US presidential election.

These people said they hope Mr. Trump will be elected US president “because if Trump wins, there will definitely be some change.”

“I met another person who said that North Korea finds it easier to talk to Republicans than Democrats,” Fukuda said. He said another person was disappointed in Clinton because he thought she cared little about North Korea.

In late June, North Korea's propaganda website DPRK Today published an article praising Mr. Trump as a “wise politician” and “a presidential candidate with vision” while calling Mrs. Clinton “stupid.”

Fukuda said he has visited North Korea six times this year and met with officials from various sectors of the North Korean economy. Prices of rice, oil and other goods have remained stable at the same level as last year, while food and daily necessities imported from China have been largely replaced by domestic products.
