Modern weapons of Russia and Belarus in fiery military exercise near the border of Ukraine
The armies of Russia and Belarus held heated joint exercises on February 3 at the Brestsky firing range, bordering Ukraine.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has arrived in Belarus to inspect preparations by the two countries' forces for joint military exercises this month, Interfax news agency reported, amid tensions with the West over neighboring Ukraine.
A series of combat helicopters, paratroopers, artillery and tanks, especially a Russian S-400 missile defense system, were mobilized to Belarus for exercises.(Watch the video below. Source: SCMP)
Moscow's military moves are being closely watched in the West as Russia builds up troops near the border with Ukraine, raising concerns of a possible invasion.
Meanwhile, Russia has denied it plans to attack Ukraine and has demanded that the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) ensure that Kiev will not be allowed to join the military alliance.
Russia has sent an undisclosed number of troops and equipment to Belarus, which also borders Ukraine, for joint military exercises from February 10-20. Moscow has said it will withdraw its troops and equipment after the exercises end.
