It marks the "First Victory on the Gianh River" of the Vietnam People's Navy, a historical milestone affirming the will, courage, and wisdom of the nation in the cause of defending the homeland. From this land, the spirit of "cutting through the Truong Son Mountains to save the country" was forged and spread strongly, contributing to the great victory of the nation.
The Gianh ferry crossing is not only a crucial river crossing point, but also a shining symbol of the unwavering will and courageous spirit of the youth volunteer force, soldiers, and local people. This place was once a focal point of intense bombing and shelling during the two protracted wars of resistance. Amidst the rain of bombs and bullets, the forces steadfastly held their ground, maintaining this vital transportation artery and upholding the nation's unwavering belief in victory. During those brutal years, thousands of outstanding sons and daughters of the nation bravely sacrificed their lives, forever resting in this sacred land.
