National High School Graduation Exam Registration: Candidates are still confused.

April 7, 2017 09:00

(Baonghean) - From April 1st, the Department of Education and Training began receiving applications for the 2017 National High School Graduation Examination. After the first five days, there are still many difficulties in the application process, and the number of applications remains very low.

For the 2017 National High School Graduation Examination, Nghe An province is expected to have nearly 30,000 candidates, including over 27,000 first-time candidates, more than 1,000 independent candidates, and 931 candidates from continuing education programs. Despite being one of the provinces with the largest number of candidates nationwide, the Department of Education and Training's data system has only received approximately 700 candidate profiles from schools so far.

However, the applications are currently in "pending approval" mode, primarily to test the system and identify any issues during data entry. Monitoring the submitted applications reveals several errors, mainly due to incorrect names, ages, and contact phone numbers. Since the deadline for finalizing applications (April 20th) is not yet here, these errors can easily be corrected.

Mr. Le Ngoc Hoa, a specialist from the Examination and Quality Assurance Department of the Department of Education and Training, stated: This year, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that all information cannot be modified after April 20th. Therefore, during the application process, candidates must carefully consider and accurately fill in all the information as required. In addition, candidates should pay special attention to providing their full name and ID number, as these will be the default identification numbers in the system.

The 2017 National High School Graduation Examination saw several changes. While in previous three years, candidates had to take the exam and only register for college and university admissions after receiving their scores, this year the registration process was conducted simultaneously with the exam registration. This year also marked the first time the Ministry of Education and Training included combined subject exams in the National High School Graduation Examination, leading to considerable confusion among candidates during the application process.

At Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Vinh City), recognizing these difficulties, the school has organized numerous training sessions on application procedures for teachers and admissions officers. In addition, the school continuously updates information about the exam and important notes on the application process on its official website so that students can stay informed.

If students encounter any difficulties, homeroom teachers and admissions staff will provide direct advice and support. The school also plans to collect students' application documents before the deadline of April 20th to give students time to review their documents and correct any errors.

According to Mr. Cao Thanh Bao, the school principal: "Despite certain difficulties, thanks to thorough guidance, students had a relatively smooth application process. We also reminded them not to rush and to carefully consider each step of the registration. After completing the application, students should make a photocopy to double-check their personal information."

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, Director of the Department of Education and Training: This year, candidates registering for the National High School Graduation Examination do not have to pay any fees, including for obtaining their examination cards. The People's Committee of Nghe An province has allocated 10 billion VND to fund the examinations in 2017. This is truly an advantage for candidates. However, when registering for university admissions, candidates should consider carefully. This year, the Ministry of Education and Training does not limit the number of preferences a candidate can register, but each registered preference requires a fee of 30,000 VND. Therefore, when registering, candidates should not try to register for too many preferences, as it is both inefficient and results in excessive fees.

In theory, allowing candidates to register for multiple preferences would make it easier for them to get into universities. However, choosing a suitable university is not easy and requires careful consideration because this year, after submitting the application, candidates are only allowed to adjust their preferences once (after the exam results are announced).

In class 12 A6 at Le Viet Thuat High School (Vinh City), students have basically determined their aspirations by this point. To achieve this result, since grade 11, the homeroom teacher has guided students in choosing fields and majors that suit their abilities. In addition, teachers have encouraged students to participate in mock exams.

According to teacher Phan Thanh Mai, the homeroom teacher of class 12A6, the purpose of the mock exams is to help students gain experience and learn from them, as well as to assess their abilities and choose suitable fields of study or careers.

According to the Examination and Quality Assurance Department of the Department of Education and Training, registering preferences and choosing major codes for universities is one of the most frequently asked questions by candidates. This is partly due to changes in major codes, university codes, and admission combination codes for some universities; in other cases, candidates used incorrect exam and admission guidance materials and information sources.

To ensure accurate registration and avoid errors, candidates need to carefully study the examination regulations, admission regulations, and related guidance documents. In particular, they should thoroughly understand the admission information of the school they wish to apply to, as outlined in the school's admission plan, which is publicly available on the school's website and on the Ministry of Education and Training's admissions portal (address: thituyensinh.vn). According to regulations, all candidates wishing to apply to universities and colleges must have graduated from high school. Therefore, when registering for the exam, candidates should include the high school graduation requirement to avoid the situation where they may fail despite achieving high scores.

According to the 2017 National High School Examination Regulations, the registration period for this year's exam is from April 1st to April 20th, 2017. After April 20th, candidates are not allowed to change any information regarding the registered exams/subjects. To register, students can purchase application forms at high schools, continuing education centers, and district/county education offices in their localities.

After submitting their application, candidates will be given an account and password to log in to the online exam management software at http://thisinh.thithptquocgia.edu.vn. This account will be used by candidates to log in to the exam management software from registration to viewing exam results, considering high school graduation recognition, and university/college admissions. For independent candidates in Nghe An, they can purchase and submit application forms at all schools in the province. However, when taking the exam, independent candidates, first-time candidates, and continuing education students will take the exam separately in different examination rooms. It is expected that Nghe An will have 62 examination centers with 1,298 examination rooms for the 2017 National High School Graduation Examination.
