Woman scammed out of over 1 billion VND after registering for 'Junior Military Summer Camp 2024'.
After registering her child for the "Junior Military Summer Camp 2024" on Facebook, Ms. M. transferred money and was scammed out of over 1 billion VND by fraudsters within just 5 hours.
According to Hanoi City Police, Ms. M. (from Hoang Mai District, Hanoi) went on Facebook to find a summer course for her child and saw many pages advertising participation in the "Military Semester 2024".
These websites introduce connections to military units. Participating trainees experience the training environment of the armed forces, receive support with meals, uniforms, and certificates from the military unit...

Seeing that Ms. M. had a need, the perpetrator lured the victim into giving up her phone number and switched to messaging her on Zalo and Telegram.
Ms. M. was asked to complete "surveys" to achieve a high credibility score. After participating in "Survey 1" costing over 3 million VND and "Survey 2" costing over 10 million VND, Ms. M. received refunds and a small survey fee in both cases.
When participating in "Survey 3" with a fee of 35 million VND, Ms. M. did not receive her money back. The perpetrators used various excuses to ask her to transfer money to get back the unpaid amount. Within just 5 hours, Ms. M. made several money transfers and was defrauded of over 1 billion VND by the group of perpetrators.
To prevent fraud, the Hanoi City Police Department urges citizens to be vigilant against such tactics. When wanting to register their children for experiential learning or skills training courses, parents should contact or call the schools or organizations directly to inquire and verify the information.
Registration should be done in person rather than online or via bank transfer. Absolutely do not follow instructions to transfer money to anyone for any reason without verifying the recipient's identity. In case of fraud or theft, immediately report it to the nearest police station for assistance and guidance.
