Accordingly, economic-related fields/groups of fields accounted for 35 out of 100 fields with the highest number of applications from candidates.

The most popular subject group: over 5,000 applications.

Among them, the departments of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City received the highest number of applications, with over 5,000 applications (including the following majors: economics, business administration, marketing, international business, commercial business, tourism and travel service management, finance - banking, and accounting).

The finance and banking major at the Academy of Finance received the second highest number of applications, with nearly 2,200. The maritime transport economics major at the Vietnam Maritime University had the lowest number of applications, but still over 660.

Ranked second is the law major, with Hanoi Law University receiving nearly 2,200 applications, Ho Chi Minh City Law University nearly 1,900 applications, and Can Tho University receiving over 1,800 applications for the law major...

The information technology sector is also receiving a large number of applications: Hanoi University of Science and Technology has nearly 1,900 applications, Hanoi University of Industry has nearly 1,500 applications, and the University of Technology (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology each have nearly 1,400 applications;

At the University of Technology (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), the electrical engineering and electronics engineering - communications group of majors received over 750 applications; at the University of Industry Ho Chi Minh City, the automotive engineering technology major received over 700 applications...

The number of applications has surged, and the school is worried about... fake applications.

On April 11th, in an interview with Tuoi Tre newspaper, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien - Head of the Training Department at Hanoi University of Science and Technology - stated that the number of applications for entrance exams to a number of majors at the university, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, control and automation, electronics and telecommunications, mechatronics, etc., all exceeded 1,000 applications per major, which is relatively high compared to previous years.

"This result shows that this year's regulations have been very accommodating to candidates. Allowing candidates to register for an unlimited number of preferences has encouraged them to confidently apply for majors they love, even if the cut-off scores in previous years were higher than their abilities."

"For the information technology sector, the quota for mass training is 500 plus the quota for advanced programs is 200, but the number of applications reached nearly 1,900, which is far too many compared to previous years," Mr. Dien said.

Typically, Hanoi University of Science and Technology receives around 15,000 applications each year for 8 groups of majors, encompassing approximately 30 training programs. However, Mr. Dien predicts that this year the number of applications will double compared to previous years.

Meanwhile, although the finance and banking major at the Academy of Finance has the second highest number of applications (as of April 10th), Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung - head of the training department at the Academy of Finance - believes that such a number of applications does not really have much significance in evaluating the quality of candidates.

With 1,900 applications for 950 places in this major, Mr. Tung said this was an "unexpected number".

"Because candidates can register for an unlimited number of preferences, and the regulation states that those who have been accepted into a higher-ranked major will not be considered for a lower-ranked major, the risk of 'phantom' applications is high."

"The school can only accurately assess the students' interest and preference for their chosen field of study based on the number of candidates who register for their first choice," Mr. Tung explained.

The number of exam registrations has not reached 30% of the expected number.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training as of 2 PM on April 11th, approximately 250,000 candidates have registered to take the national high school graduation exam. Thus, with more than half of the registration and application deadline already passed, the number of candidates submitting applications nationwide is less than 30% of the total number of applications this year as projected by the Ministry of Education and Training.

On April 11th, in an interview with Tuoi Tre newspaper, Associate Professor Tran Van Nghia, Deputy Director of the Department of Examination and Quality Assurance of Education, Ministry of Education and Training, stated that the Ministry of Education and Training has established a channel for regular and direct information exchange with the leaders of the 63 Departments of Education and Training nationwide, as well as all universities and colleges in the teacher training sector, in order to provide timely guidance and support.

Given the low registration and access to the Ministry's admissions portal from some disadvantaged provinces, and concerns that many candidates lack mobile phones and internet-connected computers, the Ministry of Education and Training leadership has requested provincial Departments of Education and Training to instruct high schools to open internet-connected computer rooms, allowing candidates to access information for exam registration and admissions.

Mr. Nghia also argued that the figure of nearly 30% of candidates registering doesn't tell the whole story, because in reality, the registration process for the exam and the application for admission is quite simple. If candidates understand the regulations, they can complete the registration in just a few hours (including data entry and information verification, which only takes a few days).

However, during the registration process, many candidates have made mistakes, resulting in the system rejecting their data and requiring them to re-enter the information. Therefore, to avoid having to hastily correct information (if errors occur), candidates should proactively submit their applications early after careful consideration.
